MemberI have a 1200 sq ft crawl space I want to insulate. Never used spray foam before. Looking at the 2-component kits – Froth-Pak seems popular. Any advice for a first-timer?

MemberFroth-Pak is solid for DIY. For a crawl space that size get the 650 board foot kit, maybe two. Do not forget safety gear – respirator, safety glasses, and gloves are non-negotiable.

MemberI did my crawl space last year with a similar kit. Biggest tip: warm the tanks up to 70-75 degrees before use. Cold temperatures kill your yield and mixing ratio.

MemberPractice on cardboard first. The learning curve is real. Your first few passes will likely be uneven. Do multiple thin passes rather than one thick one.

MemberWhat about temperature – my crawl space is around 55 degrees. Is that too cold?

Member55F is borderline. Ideally substrate should be above 60F. Run a space heater in there for a few hours before you start. The tanks should also be 70-80F for proper mixing.

MemberSeal any standing water or condensation first. Spray foam does not adhere well to wet surfaces. And make sure you have ventilation – those fumes are serious.

MemberGot it – will rent a dehumidifier and run a heater the day before. Ordered the Froth-Pak 650 two-pack. Will report back with results!
