MemberOur worker comp rates jumped 20% at renewal. Spray foam applicators are classified pretty high risk. Wondering how others are structured – employees vs subs?

MemberWe use two core employees who are certified and do QC, and 1099 subs for labor. Our comp rates are much more manageable. Check with your state on classification rules.

MemberSame structure here. Make sure your subs have their own comp coverage. Had an audit once and they tried to reclassify subs as employees because we did not have their certs on file.

MemberGood point. We have a policy now that every sub has to provide a COI before stepping on site. That alone clears up the audit issue.
